How To Apply A Strategic Approach To Managing Printing and Imaging

2010-03-22_213857 There’s more to running an efficient and cost-effective printing and imaging environment than just buying new devices. A well planned, strategic approach to managing printing and imaging can reduce costs and increase productivity through the entire
lifecycle of the devices in your state or local government agency. HP Total Print Management (TPM) can help by bringing together balanced deployment, optimized utilization and industry-leading networked technology to optimize operations.
Think about it: Evaluate your current needs, resources and costs.

Act on it: Plan strategic improvements and put them into place.

Work with it: Manage your optimized environment on an ongoing basis.

Get help with it: Learn more about how Hewlett-Packard can help.

Think about it
You can’t begin to reduce costs or increase productivity until you know how much time and money your
organization is currently devoting to meeting printing and imaging needs. That’s why the first step in a strategic
approach to management is a thorough assessment of your needs, existing resources and present costs. The questionnaire on the next page, while by no means exhaustive, can serve as a starting point for helping you establish a solid foundation for planning. continue reading...

Canon Enhances imageFORMULA Line With The Introduction Of Three New High-Speed Production Scanners

Lake Success, N.Y., May 6, 2009 – Continuing its tradition in delivering high-quality imaging devices, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and number-one in the low-volume production document scanner market*, today unveiled the imageFORMULA DR-9050C, DR-7550C and DR-6050C production scanners. First previewed at the 2009 AIIM / On Demand Trade Show and Exposition this year, these scanners deliver true high-speed scanning, capable of providing enterprises with reliable, flexible and high image-quality scanning solutions to enhance document management systems. The DR-9050C, DR-7550C and DR-6050C scanners will be replacing Canon imageFORMULA DR-9080C and DR-7580 production scanners.

Recognizing that most high-volume document scanning environments are not the same but may still require many similar features in a production scanner, these new imageFORMULA production scanners all share the same robust set of features and new technologies, with the only difference among them being the scanning speeds and feeder capacity. Whether scanning in color, grayscale or black-and-white, the Canon DR-9050C, DR-7550C and DR-6050C scanners maintain scanning speeds up to 112 pages-per-minute (ppm)/225 images-per-minute (ipm), 90ppm/180ipm and 65ppm/130ipm, respectively**.

"Whether it's to capture financial documents, process insurance claim forms, or create Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), these scanners will bring a new level of performance to a variety of markets," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "The combination of speed, reliability and image quality will help any production scanning environment to reduce overall costs associated with document management and records retention."

Canon U.S.A. Starts New Era Of Large Format Printers For The Technical Document And General Use Markets

Pittsburgh, April 29, 2009 – With the popularity and use of its award-winning large format printer line continuing to grow, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging and office solutions, today unveiled four new large format printers – the 36-inch imagePROGRAF iPF755 and iPF750, and the 24-inch imagePROGRAF iPF655 and iPF650 – at the International Reprographic Association (IRgA) Convention and Trade show (Booth #825)

Specially designed to meet the demands of the Geographical Information System (GIS); Computer-Aided Design (CAD); Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC); Reprographics; and other Technical Document markets, these new, space-saving printers produce a diverse range of outputs from complex technical documents to spectacular full-color posters, faster and easier than ever before.
"The introduction of these new models extends Canon's ability to offer an effective, efficiently designed, top-tier, large format printing solution, while helping to increase productivity with many new, user-friendly features," said Jim Rosetta, vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "By offering versatile, compact models which maintain our highest image quality, we're continuing to expand this highly successful and rapidly growing product line."

imagePROGRAF Captures #2 Market Share
Canon began offering innovative large format models in 2006 with the rollout of the imagePROGRAF iPF line. Since then, Canon has built its lineup of imagePROGRAF printers to include more than 20 versatile models that address the various large format printing needs of engineers, graphic art designers, photographers, and professional printing services. Canon has quickly established itself as a major player in the large format market, capturing the number-two market share position in the wide format aqueous inkjet market above 24-inches wide, in 2008, according to InfoTrends, a leading worldwide market research and strategic consulting firm for the digital imaging and document solutions industry.
